Plum Perfect Friday - The Year of the Rabbit

I discovered this little tidbit of information at the beginning of the week. (This is so cool! I love bunny's!)

But wait...I'm getting a little ahead of myself!

It has been somewhat of an eventful week. My husband and I went to Las Vegas on Monday to visit a client of his. So needless to say, I did not get to my blog again on Rusty Rave Monday, and I am quite late getting this in for Plum Perfect Friday, (and I'm doing "on the go", via my iPhone too!)

We went to see a show at the Palazzo, and ran into this "giant version" while walking around and exploring the joint afterward. That's when I became enlightened regarding the year...

We returned home on Wednesday and things remained busy because of a "red letter" day in our family...my triplets turned 16, so we, of course, celebrated that event. (Hey, I just had a thought...maybe my fondness for rabbits stems from an ability to relate to them because of the multiple birth thing...ha! But, no, that's not it...I have always loved the little critters.)

Anyway, in honor of the year, I thought it would be fun to pay tribute to those cute, soft and furry creatures that I adore. They hold a prominent place in my home and I think they are just whimsical and sweet.

Rusty Rave Monday - For Edie: A Friend I've Never Met

Last week I stumbled upon a Blog called "Life In Grace". Another blog that I follow, (The Nesting Place) had posted a story about a fellow blogger who's family had experienced a house fire, and lost everything right before Christmas! This is how I heard of Edie's heartbreaking and tragic story...yet, what I have actually drawn from this tale is not gloomy or pessimistic...I have read of Edie's immense faith and optimism, and am truly better for knowing her story and have genuinely been inspired to improve my attitude toward my own tribulations and adversity.

We all have trials in our lives, no one is exempt or immune. Sometimes we feel that ours couldn't be any worse, or that they are never ending. I regularly have had my own pity parties within my private thoughts, then, put on a "brave" face outwardly so that I appear to be "positive and happy"! I am drawing closer to the realization that this is the challenge...this is what we are supposed to learn through our struggles...to be of good cheer, (sincerely) despite our pain! My new friend, Edie is carrying this out, and is an AMAZING example to us all!

Yesterday at church we were shown the following short video:



The thought at the end was what hit me the hardest:

I wanted to share this with you because my new cyber friend, Edie, and this remarkable advice may have just changed my life forever! I hope it inspires and encourages you as it does me.

A Model Mom

In observance of Mother's Day, a photo tribute to my mom.

She was, first and foremost, beautiful! In her lifetime she was a model, a flight attendant, a floral designer, a single mother, a cake decorator, a private pilot, a business owner, etc., etc., etc.

She was talented, vibrant and creative, everything she did, she did with flair! She could build things, fix things and improve and beautify things. We believed there wasn't anything she couldn't do! She could play the piano and the organ, had a beautiful voice and performed with several choirs including the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, and often sang solo's in church.

Some friends wrote: She was one of a kind -- full of adventure, humor, creativity and warmth! A great lady with a beautiful smile and an infectious laugh.

It has almost been 5 years since she left this earth...I love you and miss you so much, Mom, it was from you that I learned to be me.
